Since the legalization of gay marriage seems to be the big thing, I think that I'm going to post -my- comments on the issue.
I, myself, am decidedly neutral on whether gay couples should or shouldn't marry, In a nutshell, my own view (which nobody will likely agree with):
Children are both a blessing and a curse. This planet is overpopulated, people are throwing unborn children into -dumpsters-, and those that actually -do- survive get traumatized by such things as divorce, fighting/cheating parents, child abuse, and other children that have such things.
It seems somewhat obvious to me that the goal isn't to make gay marriage legal, the goal should be to make 'straight'/hetrosexual marriage just as illegal as gay marriage. Children, in this day and age, are an immoral, treacherous, and almost impossibly narcicisstic pleasure. Ask people why they want to have kids - answers will typically range from 'wanting to be grandparents/make their parents grandparents' to 'want to hear pitter-patter of little feet' to 'it's the -right- thing to do'. And yet these selfish folks are model parents? Those that don't have children by 'mistake' are oft not fit to raise them, leading to many of the problems you see now days.
Gay couples, on the other hand, don't produce children. If they want children, they adopt, typically - which I find in general far more moral than giving birth - if one's parents die, or if they're taken from one of those unsuitable houses, giving them a good place to live is, while technically the equivalent of picking a cat from a shelter and taking it home, still better than giving the world another mouth to feed and giving people like GW another mind to convert into his radical blend of religious fanaticism and unthinking 'emotion'.
The problem here isn't the gay people. The problem here is the straight people. They shouldn't get any 'special privledges' such as the right to wed and the right to bear children. Humans may mate for life, but it should not be religiously and legally binding.

As for it being easy to get, I say put the parents through rigorous tests and training to achieve the liscense so they will have the proper skills not to completely fuck up the kid.
BTW, on an unrelated note, I finally finished unpacking and found 'Teh Chu'. Can ya email me an address I can mail it to? I'll mail it when I send all my Ebay crap off.
