Man. Nostalgia really makes you forget HOW messed up some cartoon animation can be. Poor Antoine's face will never be the same.

. . . . wow. That is just. . . disastrous. That is really messed up.

As was stated later on, most of them are wild take tweens, which means they're half-intentionally messed up. Particularly note the three more "messed-up" ones, which were intentional tween shots. Why they had wild takes in SatAM anyway, I'll never know, but I guess they just couldn't market a cartoon in the early 90s without gag-a-minute.

I have no reasoning behind the first and the last derp, nor the I SEE WHUT U DID THAR face, though.

The more... I look at the pictures the more I'm starting to remember that episode. Being a young kid at that age I probably just found it funny and didn't really understand it as being "really bad". Now, it's like... hard to see it that way. The early 90s market seemed bad for some animation but it always ended up getting better. There are also bad animation in Weiss Kreuz and it was made in 98.

Maybe just something comical? I don't know what the reasoning behind it was either. Perhaps they just needed to get the episode out quick enough so no time to make it any better. *shrugs*

Funny how the Sonic cartoon looked.... eh... halfway decent in motion... but if you hit the pause button at just the right moment... BAMWTF!!!

Antoine got the worst of it. Between the wild takes in the less serious moments where he just turned into Wile E. Coyote's retarded French cousin and the more serious moments where the animators just drew him off-model, he was pretty much cartoon silly putty through most of the show.

Some of that is plain off-model, some is pretty evidently inbetween frames from wild takes.

Yeah. The "wackier" ones are tweens, though the reason that they had an episode SO packed with wild takes in what people always call a "serious" cartoon is a problem all its own. The first and last are pretty much just fail, though.
