You know. There's something about the shows my daughter watches that has always bugged me, but it wasn't until seeing Pooh's Grand Adventure not long after an episode of My Friends Tigger & Pooh that it really hit home. Beaver, in the latter series, is an obvious Expy of Gopher from the originals, and Darby takes up the Christopher Robin role (even though the latter does make the occasional cameo appearance)...
But where is Owl? In no way, shape, or form is he anywhere near the latter's canon, and really, that rather depresses me. He was the stereotypical Wise Old Owl, yes, but he was also that wonderful mix of insane that an author in the 1800s would be from taking too many opiates.
I miss him.
