Hn.

At a bit of a situation here that I'm not sure how to resolve.

For those who don't know, Final Fantasy Tactics A2 ships this Tuesday.

I have it pre-ordered. I have had it pre-ordered for almost a year. For those who don't know me well, I am such a diehard fanboy of FFT and its spinoffs that I actually had, at one point, a Perfect FFTA save with over 300 hours clocked on it. Needless to say, getting this game is Srs Bzns, and I'm not sure what to do.

Needless to say, in my current financial situation, I can't afford it. UNLESS.

I trade in some of my stuff to the Game Stop Mafia.

Now, where it stands, I really have two choices, if I do that.

1) I trade in pretty much all my DS games. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, except one of them - the one that will get me the most credit, naturally - is a gift from a very close friend of mine, and even if I hated the game (which I don't - I've played it start to finish almost three times over now) I'd be loath to give something away that had that much sentimental value attached.

2) I trade in my PSP. This, at its face value, may seem the optimal decision of the two, except for the fact that the PSP is basically my ONLY portable music player any more, and a damn good one at that - shit's a million times more resilient than the iPod I got back in 2004 was. In addition, even though I don't have any games for it, I'd have to get the custom firmware removed, which is a pain, and I'd as of such lose a rather drastic source of emulation.

Now, keep in mind, this (again) is not a plea for money. More than anything else, I want advice.

Trade in something that holds sentimental value, trade in something that, due to being a music player, has kept me sane this past year or so, or miss out on a game I've been waiting desperately for since I first heard it announced? :\

Would it be feasible to trade in all your DS games EXCEPT for this particular one, or do you absolutely have to trade them ALL in to afford the game?

Puzzle Quest - $7 in credit
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin - $7 in credit
Elite Beat Agents - $4 in credit
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness (the one in question) - $20 in credit

Credit without PMD: $18, or $19.80 with member card
Credit with PMD: $38, or $41.80 with member card

Pre-existing pre-order credit: $6.25
Cost of FFTA2 on release: $39.99 plus tax
Cash or credit needed to procure pre-ordered copy of FFTA2: ~$35

Short answer: no, it isn't feasible.

Honestly, considering it's from Square Enix, I don't think it's gonna be like Atlus games where you have to snap them up right away to get a copy.

I think you're safe to hold off buying it for a bit. You'll still get a copy.
