Well. The new year has come, and I have a better feeling than for most.
2003's new year sucked.
2002's new year sucked just as much.
I think both of these were because 2001 in general was stupid-suck. Instead of space stations and HAL, we got Habdul Turbanwinder deciding to hijack a 747 and crash it into OMG LIVE TELEVISION. (Techno note: I mean no insult to those who are Middle-Eastern in heritage or descent. I simply mean insult to the type of idiot who decides to hijack a plane and fly it into a building. Plane-induced genocide -is- a good way to get into Hell, you realize)
But 2004, I feel better for some reason. Maybe because there's a new Winter Olympics coming about. Maybe because we'll finally get that kneejerk-reactionist of a president and vice pres out of office. I mean, hell, even if we have a Republican president (I'm mostly liberal, you realize) we'll hopefully have one who's response to widespread destruction isn't "Why golly gee bob, we can't find this Osama guy, so if we don't go beat up the country my pappy didn't like, then thuh terrorists've already won!" (Note: No, you idiot, by going and ATTACKING ANOTHER COUNTRY and TAKING INNOCENT LIVES and then deciding to HOLD THE MAIN NON-INNOCENT CAPTIVE INSTEAD OF JUST EXECUTING HIM... THAT is the terrorists already winning.)
...maybe it's because, despite being unemployed, 2003 ended on a decently upbeat note emotionally. I have friends, albeit on Lunarnet and Tapestries (yes, I made friends on a furry sex muck, sue me, there's some good people there who I won't name because they may be embarassed at my admitting they go to a furry sex muck as well) and life is starting to look a little less shitty.
Perhaps my mother was right, and I'm really just 2 or 3 years emotionally stunted.
Also, I wasn't going to submit to memes, but this was just too perfect to pass up for two reasons: not only does it fit me, but it's also my favoritest character in the game. ^.^
