kjorteo: Portrait of a happy, hopeful, wide-eyed Bulbasaur from a doujin. (Bulbasaur: Hopeful)

It's not like every single instance of that formula automatically made it a bad game; the Back to the Future series was also pretty guilty of it, and I did really like that one. It's just that Homestar Ruiner was really blatant about it, and also short to the point that the checklist was pretty much all that episode had. Also, looking around the other Telltale releases from around the same time, that was when I really started to notice the pattern.

And thank you! I'm noticing already that writing about games I've beaten and crossed off the list (as well as keeping the list in an actual Google Sheets list) is making me a lot better about clearing out the old ones that have been haunting me for years or even decades. We're only five months into the first year of me doing this, and I've already finished and crossed off Lolo 3 (which had been on my to-do list since the 90s) and 999 (which... is 999.) The sense of relief of having this or that weight off of me is so profound that it's inspiring me to go back and clean the forgotten cobwebs out of my backlog just to experience more of it, and that can only be a good thing. Likewise, I wish you all the best with the rules and structure you've chosen inspiring you to clear these games!
