It's a Vocaloid techno-pop song. About alpacas. It's pretty much 100% fluff, pun not intended. By all rights, this is EXACTLY the type of Vocaloid song that I should hate. Except I don't. And in the last few days, I finally figured out why.

For a little bit of background, Luka Megurine (the Vocaloid used for the vocals in this song) has two voice banks - one English and one Japanese. She was touted at the time as being the first functionally bilingual Vocaloid, though the voice banks had their share of flaws - namely, being voiced by a Japanese seiyuu, the English voice bank has its share of engrish L/R muddling and doesn't really sound all that clear.

Enter the artist known as 'baker'. Obviously high on peyote or somesuch, he decides to make a pop song... using Luka's English voice bank... to simulate Japanese syllables. Even though she's got a perfectly functional Japanese voice bank. Combined with the odd reverse-synth hits in the main melody and the even odder minor key in the chorus, this turns into an earworm of a song that, ultimately... sounds exactly like what it would be like if David Lynch made a Vocaloid song. It's pop, and at face value there is nothing at all creepy about it... and THAT'S what makes it so creepy.

And I love it. For those curious, these are the "official" lyrics, ie what was actually used by the voice bank.
