Well, I've put this off way too long. The only people that know what the hell is going on with me are those that talk to me either on the telephone or in real life.

I said I'd wait until after I got my computer fixed. Well, it's hardly fixed (the 80 gig HD I had is still dead, I'm running off the old 12 gig that was my secondary drive) but it's runnable.
I said I'd wait until I got off of dialup. Cable internet came in Monday evening.
I said I'd wait until I got a job. Well, I'm about to be on AMC Theatre's payroll - though I'm VERY displeased with their policies - namely the fact I'm required to work on every holiday that I would typically take off to VISIT MY FAMILY IN CALIFORNIA. Ahem.
I said I'd wait until Adult Swim was over. Well, Futurama's on it's second showing of the night, so...

For those who don't know (and who care, really) I moved on the 9th of April from California to Dallas, Texas. Upon doing so, I left behind my family, my job, my friends my DSL, and so on. Because I wanted to help a friend with his rent.

It hasn't been easy for me. The job market is as deceptive and conniving as it was 5 years ago, when I was very first looking for work -

Oops, roommate's home. It'll wait till I come back from Wal-Mart.

Okay. As I was saying. The job market hasn't changed. Here's how it breaks down:

30% - Businesses not hiring.
20% - Businesses 'not hiring, but accepting applications'.
15% - Businesses hiring, but for positions you are not qualified for.
9% - Businesses hiring that will not call you to confirm interview dates or even that they recieved your application.
(Of this 9%, half is businesses that claim they aren't hiring when you follow through, and the other half is businesses that tell you that they're still reviewing applications. FOR THREE WEEKS.)
1% - Businesses that will actually hire you.

So, I'm stuck in Limbo - I've now got a horrible, yet paying job, so I've got to deal with the stress of actually working along WITH the stress of repeatedly pestering people in hopes of hitting that fabled 1% again.

But here I am, with at least good friends - I know I can get support from [livejournal.com profile] mutt12(my roommate) and [livejournal.com profile] pembrokewkorgi if I desperately need it.
