Worst case scenarios.
As far as my computer (the desktop), it's about 95% certain that the entire problem is the motherboard. The 'new' HDD I was given doesn't spin up when it's connected to the IDE cable, but does otherwise. Connections are fine, which means either spontaneous cable failure or fucked mobo.
As far as Amy's comp (the laptop), it's a problem with the DC port somehow. 75%/25% chance, I'd say, of it being the port vs the charger cable.
So, yeah. both comps are pretty much DOA. I'd need a miracle right now.

Okay, you know what. I was unable to help last time TECHNICAL DISASTER STRUCK because unemployed. I am not anymore, so fuck that shit.
I can't spare too much right now because lolo 2 years of being unemployed and the associated debts, but do you want me to go looking on ebay for a cheapo netbook or something for you folks? It wouldn't be anything fancy but at least you guys would have something.

a) I'd need something running at least WinXP (Windows CE is an unsupported piece of crap - not even YouTube works on there any more)
b) Anything that fills condition A and is in reliably working condition tends to run $100+. Plus shipping, which will be a bitch for much of anyone. :/

I found
this for a current bid of 15 bucks with free expedited shipping, and this has a buy it now for a total of 80 bucks or so including shipping if the other deal ends up with high bids. EDIT OKAY screw that first one, bidding just shot up. Found another 80 dollar buy it now one with free shipping though, although it's not expedited like the other one's. I'd go with the first "buy it now" comp since it's got a faster CPU and slightly more memory (512 mb); depending on your current laptop you may be able to cannibalize some RAM from that, too. Both are seller refurbished (my experience with seller refurbished items so far is pretty good!) and can be returned within 7 days if you get them DOA, both items have p. good ratings, and both sellers are top rated. What do you think?

In my defense, you were too lasy to log out of Frankenkaito's account to reply. :|a
Either of those is fantastic, but keep in mind I wouldn't be able to repay the favor for a while, short of trying to play brokeloid more. :|

Anyway, I get my next paycheck on Thursday; I'll order it around then (or possibly another one sooner if I can snag a better auction deal). Do you have your address somewhere so I can just have it sent to you, or can you PM me with it?
